| I just read in the news that the teen birth rate in America has risen for the first time in 14 years. Over the past few years the birth rate was one its way down but just recently the rate has begun to go up. What’s this all about? Birth to unmarried mothers has also hit a “record” high and it is really taking people by surprise. The question that I ask is why is this now happening? The people that we are dealing with are the same sinful fallen people that have been around since the fall of man. How come these people are becoming more immoral? This whole thing really doesn’t surprise me personally. As King Solomon put it, “There is nothing new under the sun.” People have been immoral since the fall and then during the life of Jesus and even until now. Paul mentions it in his missionary letters and still occurs today. I really don’t think that this should take people by surprise. I mean, 20-40 years ago these statistics did not exist because it was not socially acceptable to do anything like this so it was always done in secret. The only difference between then and now is that people are more open about the immoral life style that they are living in. Though it surprises some people, others are just immune to the whole situation. One thing that really bothers me is the inconsistency of the whole situation. I mean some people might be a little upset about this whole situation but not overboard about it. On the other hand a bunch of people go out a make a whole big deal out of the fact that Michael Vick abused dogs. Our nation is defiling the sanctity of marriage but we are more worried about the lives of dogs. That just seems messed up to me. How has our nation slipped down into a level where immorality is alright but dog abuse is an over the top sin? I’m not saying that what happened to the dogs wasn’t wrong but it is really crazy to think that people find dogs more important that the human souls that are one their way down a dark sinful hole. Our nation just seems to be going down a slippery slope to destruction. To me, this nation really reminds me of Rome. I mean, the Roman people found themselves so big and great that they began to live horribly immoral lives and pretty much party all of the time. The next thing they knew they found themselves being taken over by the Barbarians. The United States is coming to that point as well. We think we are so great that no one will ever take us over and that nothing can ever destroy us. We forget the fact that our nation was built with human hands and that our nation is only as strong as its weakest link. I think it is time for the nation to step back and take a look at what is happening and then try to change. | | |
| I am really finding interesting right now how people put so much of their time and money into sports. I really can’t find a bigger waste of time in my mind. It just seems so crazy how people get so upset and down when their team loses. They only have a one in 30 to 50 chance that their team will ultimately win in the end. People find themselves devoting so much time to these events that it almost becomes an idol to them. People start to lose sense of the most important issues in the world because of sports. They even go to the extent of not going to church just so that they can see their beloved team play on Sunday morning. There are so many problems in the world and we just waste our time watching sports. Season in and season out we sit at home or at the stadium to really waste our time. I really think that the government is smart for letting systems like this be made just because now people don’t think about our countries debt and are just not worrying as much about how gas is on the rise. If people spent time looking at the poor of the world and the crazy things that the US government is doing behind our backs there would probably be an assured anarchy. Instead of bothering ourselves with issues that actually matter we waste hours of time to watch the game. There is always a sporting event on and we make such a big deal out of it that we even show them over again just to see how spectacular the game was. Why don’t we read or go outside and enjoy life instead of watching a bunch of guys make millions for playing a game. It really is no exaggeration. What do people talk about when they get into work on Monday, the game. Our culture surrounds around how great people play and how good their team is. Other people actually lay money down to see their team win. When they lose, they find themselves so angry and unleashing their anger on anything they can. This seems like the most idiotic thing ever. Who would put money on a game that could go either way? It just doesn’t seem smart to me. I think anther great waste of time is the whole fantasy game thing. People waste time now putting their teams together and watching to see if their players stats will go and then they will feel better about themselves. Whey don’t people put more time into bettering themselves than sitting on line and seeing if their players are doing good and getting upset to hear that their quarterback got hurt or something like that. I find that I especially get upset about this topic but in all reality we all have things that we waste our time doing. Everyone in the world wastes time on one thing or another. I guess it just depends on what we like doing. | | |
| Due to the season I think it is about time for me to really give thanks for all of things that I am grateful for. I think that the Lord has really blessed me this year so I should have a lot of things to thank him for. I first think that it is appropriate to thank the Lord for saving a wretch like myself and then even after doing this, wanting me to do his work. I can’t explain how grateful I am for Jesus’ death on the cross and his resurrection. I also am so very thankful for my family. So many times I can really be the number one cost to my parents’ hair loss but they still love me and support me in all that I do. I really am thankful that my parents brought me up in the way I should go. They made sure I was in church every Sunday learning about our great God and taught me in the home how to please God. I can’t thank the Lord enough for giving me such a loving brother who is always there and helping me to make smart choices in my life. I know that my family loves me so much and cares about me so much. They just want to see me grow and to exactly what the Lord wants me to do no matter what. I am so blessed when I think of these things. When I hear about friends that do not have Christian parents to support them in following the ways of the Lord, I feel blessed. I think that the Lord has actually shown me something to be thankful for that a lot of the time we totally forget about. This year I am thankful for the color the leaves turn at this time of year. There is nothing like going outside and taking the time to appreciate this. Also that smell of the rain in fall brings so much joy in my life. The smell is so refreshing and cool. I’m thankful for that feeling you get when you take a deep breath of fall air into your lungs. There is really nothing like that. I’m thankful for the stars in the sky and being able to feel so small in comparison. I really think the Lord has been showing me these things to tell me to just appreciate the simple things of life. So many times I find myself running from one place to the next without taking any time to even think about the beauty that surrounds me. It almost seems ridiculous but there are defiantly times in my life when months go by and I never take a minute to look up at the stars or enjoy a sunset. The Lord has given us this beautiful art to enjoy and we just pretty much say that we have better things to do. I am finally thankful for the feeling that we all get when we step back and enjoy the moment that we are in without out thinking about the pressures of life. These moments have to be the most relaxing moments we can ever have. There really is nothing like stepping outside, looking at the beauty of creation and living right in that moment, not thinking in the past or future but just living in the present moment. I truly am a thankful man this season. | | |
| So I just found out that there is a strike in Paris today. The people striking are the transport workers. This has really made the whole city a mess. Now everyone is scrambling and trying to figure out how they are going to go to work and trying to figure out if they will make it anywhere for a few days. It is really amazing to me how people find themselves so reliant on the transportation system that they really don’t know what to do if they don’t have their usually way to work. You know back in the day people used to walk everywhere. I think that we take our luxuries too seriously. We really need to step back and be thankful for the things that we have but at the same time not go into a frenzy when we lose it. I’m sure if I was there I would be the first one to be complaining about this whole thing but I think it is about time for me to stop being so lazy and maybe not be so reliant on the transportation system. I think this strike could be a good thing and will get the lazy people of this world off of their seats and start actually exercising. I think that a strike might be a good thing here in America. We are so lazy here that I think there would actually be a revolt if someone did this. I think that the whole country would be so angry that there would be a red alert. We really need to exercise more. I think that the gas prices keep going up because no one is going to stop using the transportation. Paris is going to benefit from this because they won’t be using as much gas and will be saving money. I think that we really need to make lifestyle changes like this. It will be good for our health as well as our pockets. I just think that it is important to consider the importance of exercise and stop putting so much of our time and money into cars. I think that there is something wrong when someone says to me that they haven’t seen the stars in something like 3 months. This pretty much says to me that they never take the time to look up into the sky to see the beauty of nature. Instead this person most likely just walks from the door to the car without even looking up. I defiantly have to see this as a problem. When we just drive across a parking lot or something like that just because we are lazy just shows a lack to use our legs. Now I’m not saying that all transportation is wrong because it is defiantly necessary to use in most situations. It is just important to determine when it is important to use transportation and when it is important to ride a bike or walk. I really think that exercise can be a solution to a lot of problems. | | |
| I seriously can’t believe this…there is now a bagel being sold for 1,000 dollars. I mean I really don’t even have words for this. What does someone need to buy a 1000 dollar bagel for. Are people seriously that rich that they need to buy a bagel worth so much money. I really find this disturbing. There are people only a few miles away right now that are starving in the street but on the other end of things, there is some guy buying a bagel of 1,000 dollars. I really see this as just disrespectful of people. Who is really that selfish that they think it is that cool to get a bagel worth that much money. The article says that there was a pizza of 1,000 dollars too. I just don’t understand how you can walk down the street with a clear conscience and buy a bagel for that much and not even think about people who have to suffer on the street every night. How about the people that don’t have a bed and will die due to the cold at night. Where’s the love. I really could never see myself being so greedy that I don’t care about people and only care about myself enough to by a bagel worth a grand. I really don’t have a solution to the problem because the only solution out there is communism. Communism is definitely a perfect governmental system. Thus it won’t work in our society. A perfect governmental system with imperfect people will be bedlam. If all people were equal there would be no rich or poor. It would be equal and there would be no 1000 dollar bagels. The only way it would work is if we were all honest which is all together impossible so in the end we will have to live with the system that we have. I mean the only thing I could do is try to guilt trip some rich guy in giving to the poor which might work for a little while but then he will get tired of it or have some bad experience with a poor person that o.d.’s with is money. Then the rich guy will never see it necessary to give to the poor again. He would probably find it better to spend his money on a bagel worth a grand because he knows where his money is going. Then when he’s at the bagel place he will tell all his rich friends that poor people only spend money on drugs, so never give them money. Then in the end rich people will still buy bagel worth a grand and poor people will die because they couldn’t get that one meal. Who wins in the end? I think that the rich man loses because he has a bad deception that his bagel money is worth every penny and the poor guy loses because the rich guy loses. In the end the middle class will have to man up and tighten their belts. It will be up to us to feed and house those less fortunate, even though it hurts our wallets as well. | | |
